Privacy Policy

Effective date: 27 July 2026

Last updated: 27 July 2026

Guru54 (“Guru54”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the Guru54 website at https://guru54.com and the Guru54 mobile applications (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, when we disclose it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights available to you.

Guru54 is the data controller responsible for the Service and operates from Nigeria. If you have a privacy question or wish to exercise a privacy right, contact us through our Contact Us page and include “Privacy Request” in your message.

1. Data we collect

1.1 Data you provide

  • Account and profile data: your name, username, email address, telephone number, password, date of birth, gender, biography, profile and cover images, country, address or location information you choose to add, and other profile details.
  • User content and communications: posts, comments, reactions, messages, reviews, forum contributions, blogs, stories, reels, live content, photos, videos, voice notes, audio, music, documents and other files you upload or share.
  • Community and activity data: your friends, followers, follows, groups, pages, events, saved content, reports, blocked accounts, searches and privacy choices.
  • Identity and verification data: if you request account verification or a feature that requires verification, we may collect a photograph, passport or national identity document, verification message, and related evidence.
  • Transaction and payment data: purchase, subscription, wallet, transfer, reward, withdrawal and transaction history; billing status; payment method type; bank transfer receipts; payout or withdrawal details; and information needed to prevent fraud and resolve payment issues. Full card details are normally collected directly by the relevant payment provider rather than Guru54.
  • Marketplace and opportunity data: information included in products, offers, jobs, courses, funding posts and other listings you create or respond to.
  • Support data: information you send when you contact us, report content, appeal a decision or request help.

1.2 Data collected automatically

  • Device and network data: IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device type and model, operating system, browser, language, mobile carrier, app version, unique device or advertising identifiers, notification token and connection information.
  • Usage data: screens and pages viewed, searches, content interactions, follows, clicks, session times, referring pages, ad impressions and interactions, and other actions within the Service.
  • Diagnostics and security data: crash information, performance data, API and server logs, timestamps, authentication events, error reports and information used to detect spam, abuse, fraud or unauthorised access.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: our website and our advertising, analytics and service partners may use cookies, pixels, local storage, SDKs and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, provide notifications and deliver or measure advertising.

1.3 Device permissions

Depending on the feature you choose, the mobile app may request access to your camera, microphone, photos, videos, audio files, documents or notifications. We use that access only to provide the feature you request, such as creating a post, uploading media, scanning a code, recording a voice note, joining a call or live stream, saving media, or receiving notifications. You can manage permissions in your device settings, although disabling a permission may prevent the related feature from working.

2. How we use data

We use personal data to:

  • create, authenticate, secure and manage your account;
  • operate profiles, feeds, posts, messaging, pages, groups, events, stories, reels, blogs, forums, live features and other community tools;
  • process purchases, subscriptions, wallet activity, rewards, transfers and withdrawal requests;
  • personalise content, recommendations, language and Service settings;
  • send service, security and activity notifications and, where permitted, promotional communications;
  • provide and measure advertising, including personalised or non-personalised ads as permitted by your choices and applicable law;
  • provide support, respond to reports and enforce our Terms of Use and community standards;
  • detect, investigate and prevent fraud, spam, harmful content, security incidents and other misuse;
  • analyse use, diagnose problems, test features and improve the safety, reliability and performance of the Service; and
  • comply with law, respond to lawful requests and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

3. Legal grounds for processing

Depending on your location and the activity involved, we process personal data because it is necessary to perform our agreement with you, because you have given consent, because we have a legitimate interest in operating and protecting the Service that is not overridden by your rights, because we must comply with a legal obligation, or under another ground permitted by applicable law. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

4. Public content and your audience choices

Guru54 is a social platform. Information in your public profile and content you share with a public audience may be visible to anyone, including people without a Guru54 account, and may be copied or re-shared by other users. Content shared in a group, page, event, conversation or subscriber area is visible to the audience indicated by that feature. Review the audience and privacy setting before posting. We cannot control copies made by other people outside the Service.

5. When we disclose data

We may disclose personal data in the following circumstances:

  • At your direction or to your chosen audience: for example, when you publish a post, send a message, join a live session, make a transfer, respond to a listing or use a sharing feature.
  • Service providers: companies that provide hosting, content delivery, storage, security, moderation, customer support, analytics, communications, live audio/video, payment processing and other infrastructure. They may process data only for the services they provide to us and subject to appropriate obligations.
  • Google services: Google Sign-In may provide the account details you approve; Google Mobile Ads may process IP-derived approximate location, device and advertising identifiers, app interactions and diagnostic data for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention; and Google Play Billing processes eligible Android in-app purchases.
  • OneSignal: if notifications are enabled, OneSignal may process a push subscription identifier, push token, device and app information, IP address, notification interactions and related session information to deliver and measure notifications.
  • Agora and communications providers: when you use live streaming, audio, video or calling features, the communications provider may process technical identifiers, IP address, session data and audio/video streams as needed to connect and operate the session.
  • Stripe and other payment or payout providers: depending on the payment option available, these providers process payment, billing, fraud-prevention, refund and payout information.
  • Advertising and measurement partners: partners may receive device, advertising, approximate location, usage and ad-interaction data to deliver, limit, secure and measure ads, subject to applicable law and your available consent choices.
  • Legal and safety disclosures: we may disclose data if reasonably necessary to comply with law or a valid legal request; protect a person from harm; investigate fraud, abuse or security incidents; or protect the rights, property and safety of Guru54, our users or the public.
  • Business changes: data may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, reorganisation, sale of assets or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.

These third parties have their own privacy terms. You can learn more from the privacy information provided by Google, OneSignal, Agora and Stripe.

6. Advertising and tracking choices

The Service contains advertisements. Depending on your location, consent choice and device settings, ads may be personalised or non-personalised. We do not sell personal data for money. Some privacy laws may treat certain transfers for interest-based advertising as a “sale” or “sharing”; where those laws apply, you may use the consent or privacy controls presented in the Service, your device advertising settings, or our Contact Us page to make an applicable request.

You can also reset or delete your device advertising identifier, limit ad personalisation through your Google or device settings, disable non-essential cookies where controls are available, and disable push notifications through the app or device settings.

7. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. Retention depends on the type of data, whether your account remains active, legal and accounting obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, safety needs and the operation of backups. When data is no longer required, we delete it, anonymise it or securely isolate it until deletion is possible. Deleted data may remain for a limited period in protected backups and legal or security records. Content copied or re-shared by another user may remain under that user’s control.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encrypted connections, authentication controls, restricted access and monitoring. No website, app, network or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for using a strong password, keeping your sign-in details confidential and promptly telling us about suspected unauthorised access.

9. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • ask whether we process your personal data and obtain access to it;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request deletion of your data or account;
  • withdraw consent or object to or restrict certain processing;
  • receive certain data in a portable format;
  • opt out of certain direct marketing or targeted advertising; and
  • complain to the competent data protection authority.

To make a request, use our Contact Us page and write “Privacy Request”. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a legal privacy right.

If you are in Nigeria, you may also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Residents of other regions may contact their local data protection authority.

10. Account and data deletion

You may request deletion from within the app through the account settings and Delete Account option. You may also start the account deletion process at https://guru54.com/settings/delete. Account deletion removes or anonymises the account and associated personal data unless retention is required for security, fraud prevention, payment, legal, accounting or dispute-resolution purposes. Before deleting your account, save any content or transaction information you wish to keep.

11. International data transfers

Guru54 and its service providers may process data in Nigeria and other countries where they operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, consent or another lawful transfer mechanism.

12. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a child under 13. If the law where a user lives requires a higher age to consent to data processing or use an online service, the user must meet that age or have valid authorisation from a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal data unlawfully, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

13. Third-party links and services

Posts and other areas of the Service may contain links, embedded media, products or services provided by third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review those policies before giving them personal data or completing a transaction.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Service, law or our practices. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
